The Gim is my FAVORITE weapon to date; I have been working on the set since I was a white sash, when I learned Hu Yuen Cho's special form. I have learned so much about my body from handling the gim, and I have been incredibly lucky to have a gifted instructor, Ms. Rachel Kert, here in Temecula that has given me so many great details and worked so hard to help me understand the purpose of my training. When I first began with the gim, I had no idea what I was doing! I thought I was just 'swinging a sword around'...now, I have so much respect for this wonderful weapon, and I have come to appreciate why the saying goes..."Ten years to master the broadsword, twenty years to master the gim"...( or, at least I think that's what I remember hearing Sifu Houseman say...)
